Ergonomics This chiropractor specializes in the field of Ergonomics. Ergonomics is the engineering science addressing the physical and psychological relationship between machines and the people who use them. The ergonomicist has studied human-machine interactions. Applications range from the design of work areas (including office furniture, automobile interiors, and aircraft cockpits) to the distribution of switches and gauges on the control panels of machinery; to determining the size, shape, and layout of keys on computer terminals; to character height, color, and clarity on video displays. Since a chiropractor often has patients who have problems resulting from the machines they use and the way they sit in their work environments, the doctor will treat patients with his knowledge of ergonomics.
